Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how MediaClip (a media intelligence company incorporated and operating in Botswana) collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you visit mediaclip.net, request a demonstration, or use the MediaClip service.

We handle personal data in line with Botswana's Data Protection Act 2024 (Act 18 of 2024). A separate DPA 2024 statement and Security page describe our compliance approach and technical safeguards in more detail.

1. Who we are

MediaClip is a media intelligence platform monitoring Botswana print, radio, television, digital news and public social conversations. We are based in Gaborone and can be contacted at dumela@mediaclip.net. For any privacy question or request, please use that address.

2. What personal information we collect

We collect only what we need to run our service and respond to enquiries:

Demo request information — name, company, work email, optional phone number, and the message you send us through the demo form.
Technical information — IP address, browser user-agent and timestamp for each form submission, retained for security and abuse-prevention.
Client account information — if MediaClip is provided to your organisation, we hold the account details and dashboard preferences your organisation gives us.

We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising trackers on this website. Basic technical logs are kept for operational and security purposes only.

3. How we use it

To respond to your demonstration or information request.
To deliver, support and improve the MediaClip service to your organisation.
To meet legal, regulatory or contractual obligations.
To protect the service from abuse, spam and fraud.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

4. Where your data is stored

MediaClip's application infrastructure is hosted with reputable cloud providers. Personal data submitted through mediaclip.net is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database and transmitted over encrypted connections. Access is limited to authorised MediaClip personnel on a need-to-know basis.

Enterprise clients receive a written Data Processing Agreement covering data location, retention, sub-processors, incident response and account termination, in line with DPA 2024.

5. How long we keep it

Demo request records are retained for up to 24 months to manage sales follow-up and reporting.
Client account data is retained for the duration of the service agreement plus the retention period specified in that agreement.
Technical logs are retained for up to 90 days.

6. Your rights

Under DPA 2024 you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain uses. To exercise any of these rights, email dumela@mediaclip.net. We will respond within the timeframe required by law.

7. Security

We use encryption in transit, role-based access controls, isolated environments and continuous monitoring. Full technical detail is on our Security page. Despite reasonable safeguards, no online system can be guaranteed absolutely secure; we notify affected parties promptly in the event of a personal-data breach as required by law.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our service or the law changes. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Material changes affecting existing clients are communicated directly.
